torzano Listening to this again today and it's terrific. This is different from most solo saxophone albums in a good way. Great melodic lines played with Tim's unique dark alto sound. Really like the track Curls. Favorite track: Rose Colored Assive.

accordeonaire I have loved Tim's work since I first heard it in the early eighties. It didn't occur to me that I had never heard him play solo til this came out. Solo sax albums are a great tradition in creative music (Braxton's "For Alto" comes to mind), and Tim's improv/composer voice is so distinctive that to hear it in this raw form is a treat beyond measure. I generally prefer conversations between improvisors, but a great monologue is, in fact, great.

about

This is my first solo recording...something i’ve been pondering for the past year and a half. I began writing some solo things to help me get out of a melodic rut and just kept going with it but whenever i got close to recording the fear crept in and i paused.

I really wanted the intimacy/informality of playing at home where i am most comfortable. So...here we are.

Last friday i went into a room with my horn and my PJ’s and this is what
happened ...kind of what i envisioned.

No big deal.

Thanks to my partner in crime David Torn it even sounds good.
